LONDON - Pakistan batsman Shahzaib Hasan, who scored a century in the tour match against Somerset, has expressed hope that he would be given an opportunity to establish himself as a regular opener in the national team.

Hasan’s 105 and 97 by Fawad Alam helped Pakistan set a stiff 265-run target for Somerset, who ended up eight-runs short in their reply.

“A batsman in any form of the game needs a couple of series to establish himself in international cricket. I think after that time a player can show what he can do in varying conditions and mentally he’s more settled,” PakPassion.net quoted Hasan, as saying.

“You are not as nervous and don’t feel the pressure of the crowd as much. International cricket is a different world to domestic cricket and sometimes immediate expectations can be too high,” he added.

The 20-year-old further said that he was impressed by England fast bowler James Anderson’s consistency in the swing friendly conditions, but insisted that he was prepared for the challenge.

“I’ve been watching the Test series and have been really mpressed with James Anderson’s consistency. Conditions in ngland in September with the early starts will be tough,”

“The white ball which tends to seam more than the red ball won’t make things easy especially early on in the day’s play, but I’m not too worried.”

“I have faith in my ability, I’ll play each ball on merit and if the ball is there to be hit, I’ll make sure that I will give it a clout,” he added.

Pakistan will play two Twenty20 matches and a five-match ODI series against England. (ANI)
