The Danish player of Polish origin was able to beat ace player and former number one seed Maria Sharapova in the U.S. Open making a thrilling entry in the world of Tennis.
Caroline easily defeated Sharapova in two sets of the match. She proceeded to the quarterfinals with impressive scores of 6-3 and 6-4 in the Arthur Stadium in Queens, New York.
Caroline is ranked number one in the tournament with 12 straight wins and its 18-1 record at Wimbledon. The amazing success can be explained with the information of Serena Williams quitting her name from the tournament in the year. Her absence has given complete opportunity to Caroline the new star in Tennis court.
The new star has athletics in her blood. She was born on 11 July in 1990 in Odense, Denmark. She has a Polish mother who was in Polish National volleyball team. Her father is professional footballer in Germany. Caroline’s elder brother Patrick Wozniacki plays for BK Fren in Copenhagen.
The 20 year old barely out of teens started young to become a tennis player. She competed in Osaka Mayor’s Cup in 2004 when she was just 14 and won the singles title. She turned pro on 18 July 2005. In 2006 she won the Juniors Championship in Wimbledon. In 2007 she was ranked at a career high of 62 on October 15. In 2008 she made it to the 4th round of Australian Open in January and she promoted to number 45 from number 64. She even competed in Beijing Olympics but lost in third round.
