Sanjeev Rajput conferred ‘Services Best Sportsman’ 2009-10 award

NEW DELHI - Indian Navy’s Master Chief Petty Officer - II, Sanjeev Rajput has been conferred upon the ‘Services Best Sportsman’ award for 2009-10.
On Monday, shooter Rajput was presented the award by Chairman COSC Air Marshall PV Naik in the national capital.
The Best Services Sportsman of the Year” is selected from amongst a large number of sportsmen of the three Services.
This award comprises a trophy and cash award.
This year the cash award has been enhanced from Rs 20,000 to Rs One Lakh.
On Aug 29, Rajput was honoured with the Arjuna Award for shooting by the Government of India.
Sanjeev Rajput hailing from Jagadhiri, Haryana joined Indian Navy in 1999 as Direct Entry (Non Sports Quota) in the Gunnery Branch.
During the training Sanjeev did exceptionally well with the small arms and got selected in Indian Naval Musketry team and built up his sports career.
Rajput has participated in over 40 international events (10 Mtr Air Rifle and 50 Mtr Rifle prone) and won over 30 medals including 02 Gold and 01 Silver in the 8th Commonwealth Federation Shooting Championship 2010, Silver in 10 M Air Rifle in International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup, Sydney in Mar 2010.
