San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) - Jets’ hero Braylon Edwards was arrested and charged with drunken driving after traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Edwards was pulled over on the West Side of Manhattan at 5:15 a.m. A police official reportedly said that he was having excessively varied colored windows. After that a Breathalyzer test measured the amount of his alcohol in his blood at 0.16. That is just the double of New York’s legal limit of consuming alcohol and driving.

Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement that he is very disappointed in Braylon’s actions on Tuesday morning. Later on Tuesday morning he added that the Player Protect program is in place for the organization to prevent this situation. Braylon Edwards was supposedly aware of this program and showed poor judgment. The information is being reviewed and the league and will impose the disciplinary measures as required.

Edwards was traded by the Jets last season. They had the knowledge they were taking a chance on the character of Edwards. They have done with few other players since Rex Ryan became coach. Last October, Edwards was charged with punching a man in a dispute in Cleveland. It was an incident that helped stimulated the Browns to trade their talented receiver. Edwards made earnest appeal to the court in Cleveland Municipal Court in January, but avoided an N.F.L. suspension for that incident.

Sunday’s victory was over New England. Edwards caught five passes, including one for a touchdown. He did not conduct like a sportsman and got a penalty for provoking the Patriots after the touchdown catch. The Jets signed Edwards’s $6 million contract. The duration of the contract was one year. It was done in the off-season. After the season, he is scheduled to become an agent who will be free from restriction.
