FC Pride beats Philadelphia to win WPS title

HAYWARD, Calif. — Christine Sinclair had two goals, Marta added a goal and two assists and the FC Gold Pride defeated the Philadelphia Independence 4-0 to win the Women’s Professional Soccer championship.

Kandace Wilson also scored Sunday for the Pride, who won their first WPS title in the league’s second season.

Philadelphia, which played two games this week to reach the championship game, was no match for the faster, more rested Pride. The Independence managed only three shots on goal.

The Pride beat Philadelphia for the fourth time this season.
