LAHORE - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt will not be attending the meeting called by the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports in Islamabad on October 12, as he is leaving for Dubai today to attend the ICC Board meeting.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee, Iqbal Mohammad Khan, had summoned Butt and others PCB officials, including Chief Selector Mohsin Hasan Khan and Chief Operating Officer Wasim Bari, to inform the committee about the spot-fixing scandal surfaced during the last tour of England, the Dawn reported.

But the PCB chairman, who was present in England during entire scam, will not be attending the meeting as he is set to return back on October 14.

It is noteworthy that Butt has shied away from such meetings more often than not, because he does not feel too confident about facing the Senators and the National Assembly over the many blunders made by him and his associates, bringing Pakistan cricket at the crossroad, the paper said.

The Standing Committees of both the Upper and Lower Houses of parliament had already recommended the PCB’s patron president Asif Ali Zardari to sack Butt from his position. But so far their demand has not been met with success.

Butt, who completed two years as the PCB Chairman on October 8, had faced many recommendations of similar kind from the standing committees in the past. (ANI)
