NEW DELHI - Elaborate arrangements are being introduced here for smooth traffic movement ahead of a marathon race that would be conducted on the city roads on the morning of October 14, the day of the closing ceremony of the XIXth Commonwealth Games.
There are more traffic restrictions in store for Delhiites, and Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements for movement of spectators.
In order to ensure smooth traffic on the day, the police will impose certain restrictions on many stretches in the city so that spectators reach the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium - the venue for closing ceremony - without inconvenience.
“All the events took place peacefully and we are left with two major functions on 14th of October; one is the marathon race and the other one is the closing ceremony of the Games. So we want to send traffic advisory to the people through your channels,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Satyendra Garg, while addressing the media persons at a press conference here on Monday.
Garg further said the traffic restrictions would come into force from October 13 midnight.
“From the midnight of October 13, we would start putting traffic restrictions across the city, so that all the arrangements would be done in time. As the race would start by 06.30 a.m. so I believe all the arrangements would be finished by 09.30 a.m. on October 14,” he added. (ANI)
