LONDON - Manchester United star Wayne Rooney’s team-mates are infuriated after the striker went public with his doubts about whether the club will be in a position to compete for major trophies over the coming years.
Midfielder Darren Fletcher said that he was disappointed over Rooney’s remarks and his decision to quit.
“It is just as much a shock to us as it is to everyone else. I think everyone is disappointed because we love Wayne as a team-mate and have so much respect for the manager,” the Sun quoted Fletcher, as saying.
“It is going to be difficult but all we can do is try and win games. I believe the players in the dressing room are good enough to take us forward.”
“I watch them in training every day and we have got some young exciting players. When someone leaves someone always steps up to the mark,” he added.
Captain Nemanja Vidic claimed that Rooney’s decision was affecting everyone at Old Trafford.
“Rooney is going around and talking about the bad way we’re playing or something happening around the club with the Glazers. It is not good for the players and not good for the team,” Vidic said. (ANI)
