Ashes: Coach Flower helping England to learn from past mistakes

LONDON - England cricket team coach and director Andy Flower is reported to have taken on a hands on approach in helping members of the squad learn from their past mistakes, especially when it comes to the all-important Ashes series against Australia.

Though England is the current holder of the coveted urn, having secured a 2-1 series win back home last year, Flower appears determined to ensure there is no repeat of the 2006 Ashes tour humiliation - a 5-0 white wash.

Flower says he is keen for his players to embrace Australia and escape the ‘team bubble’ encouraged by Fletcher, which saw players rarely escaping the team hotel or each other’s company.

“I don’t think there is anything to be afraid of in Australia. It’s a tour that should be welcomed, embraced, it is one of the highlights of their careers and they should enjoy the challenge on the field and also enjoy seeing another country, its culture and people. It’s a great country that should be a lot of fun for the players,” the Daily Express quoted Flower, as saying.

“I’d rather not make comparisons with things that did not go well on the last tour. It is four years on with a different set of people involved, and it is not my place to go into any mistakes made in the past,” he added. (ANI)
