IPL ban: Rajasthan Royals files petition in Bombay High Court

MUMBAI - Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday filed a petition before the Bombay High Court challenging the Boarad of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI’s) decision to terminate it and Kings XI Punjab without proper explanation.
The petition cites a complaint against unequal treatment meted out to different franchisees within the IPL family.
The Indian Premier League Governing Council had ruled earlier this month that both the Rajasthan Royals and the Kings XI Punjab were guilty of violation of ownership rights, while the same council provided temporary relief of a month to the Kochi franchisee.
According to a spokesperson from the Rajasthan Royals camp, the team had tried to hold talks with the BCCI and discuss the reasons for which they had to exit from the IPL.
However, Rajasthan Royals has not received a proper answer to their grievances as of yet.
The spokesperson said that the court has posted the matter for hearing on Friday.
