ON BOARD AIR INDIA ONE - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Saturday that it was not good for the system if he or his office were to look into all complaints.
The prime minister made the comment when a journalist asked him whether he could have intervened to prevent the corruption charges surrounding the Oct 3-14 Commonweatlh Games.
“I think post facto one can find fault with anything,” he told reporters, on his way home from Vietnam at the end of a three-nation Asian tour.
“I don’t thing it’s good for the system if all things have to be handled by the prime minister of his office. We have instrumentalities,” he said.
“Ministers should be entrusted with looking into complaints addressed to them.”
The government has ordered wide-ranging investigation into allegations of shoddy work and corruption involving the Commonwealth Games that involved nearly 7,000 officials and athletes from 71 countries and territories.
