SYDNEY - A new survey has found that Australians have no confidence in their national cricket team, as more than half of them believe that Australia would not win the upcoming Ashes series against England.

According to the Sunday Mail online poll, 56 per cent of over 6000 fans who took part believe Australia will lose the trophy on home soil for the first time since 1986-87.

However, they don’t just blame the players for the current debacle.

The most telling number to emerge from the poll was the total dissatisfaction from fans directed at the Australian selectors.

Of the 90 per cent who believe they are failing the team, 62 per cent think that Greg Chappell must replace Andrew Hilditch as the Chairman of selectors.

About 68 per cent fans also believe that coach Tim Nielsen is a failure, and want him replaced as coach by former leg-spinner Shane Warne.

It also found that England batsman Kevin Pietersen is still Australia’s biggest danger, just ahead of off-spinner Graeme Swann. (ANI)
