OCA president arrives for biggest ever Asian Games

GUANGZHOU - Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), arrived in Guangzhou for the grand opening ceremony of the 16th Asian Games.
Yu Zaiqing, vice minister of the general administration of sports of China, and Guangzhou vice mayor Xu Ruisheng greeted the OCA president from Kuwait and his entourage at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Xinhua reported.
Yu is also vice-president of the Chinese Olympic Committee.
The Southern Chinese city will stage the biggest Asian Games ever as 9,704 athletes from 45 countries and regions are registered to compete in the Nov 12-27 mega event. Around 9,520 athletes competed in the Doha edition four years ago.
Olympic Council of Asia manager Haider A. Farman confirmed the figures of the multi-discipline event.
Along with the athletes, 4,750 team officials have also arrived for the continental event.
