Asian Games weightlifting: Mali finishes 10th in 85kg

GUANGZHOU - India’s Chandrakant Dadu Mali put up an ordinary show Wednesday to finish 10th in the men’s 85kg weightlifting event at the Asian Games here.
Mali lifted an overall weight of 309kg, way behind Yong Lu of China (376kg) and Mansurbek Chashemov of Uzbekistan (372kg), who won the gold and silver, respectively. The bronze went to South Korean Kwang Hoon Kim (369kg).
The Indian placed in Group B was out of the contest even before the medal round started. He managed 138kg in snatch and 171 kg in clean and jerk, 60kg short of what the bronze medallist lifted.
Monika Laishram Devi will compete in the women’s 69kg later in the day.
