Asian Games handball: Indian men lose to Japan, women thrashed

GUANGZHOU - Indian men lost to Japan 26-54 while the women were handed a crushing 9-43 defeat by China in the league stage of the handball event at the Asian Games here Thursday.

The loss has pushed India to the penultimate spot in the men’s Group A, with a match remaining against Mongolia Saturday.

The women’s team is at second place in Group B after the loss to China in the opening match.

India will take on Japan Saturday.
