SYDNEY - Former Australian batsman Damien Martyn has slammed the selectors for dropping fast bowler Doug Bollinger from the squad for the first Test of the Ashes series, starting in Brisbane on Thursday.

A lack of game time cost Bollinger his spot in the team, despite him being Australia’s most potent bowler of the past 12 months.

“Terrible decision Bollinger had to play if fully fit I know who the poms would rather face!!! Top ten bowler in world left out we must be good,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Martyn’s post on Twitter, as saying.

Bollinger has picked up 47 wickets at an average of 22.02 in his past 10 matches, but has been out of action since the recent tour of India due to a side strain.

Cricket Australia has released the left-arm fast bowler from the 13-man squad to play a Sheffield Shield match for New South Wales. (ANI)
