LONDON - Jermain Defoe has never forgotten the lessons he learned while on England duty about the incredible will to win at Manchester United, and now, he sees that same ‘never say die’ spirit prevailing in the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room.

Defoe believes manager Harry Redknapp is right when he says Spurs can lift the Premier League title.

Defoe said: “I remember when I first got into the England squad. All my mates would ask me what training was like. I used to say ‘You know what, it’s mad, because the Manchester United players, the likes of Rio, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Becks, in little five-a-sides, they want to win every game. And if they don’t win, they are moaning’.

“Gary Neville never stopped. It was amazing. We would train and in the evening they were still talking about it. It didn’t matter what game they were playing in, they wanted to win. I think that’s a great thing to have and it’s important we have that,” The Sun quoted Defoe, as saying.

“When you’re a kid, you can find that funny because it’s about development and not always about the result. I always want to win, though. I’m a forward, I’m a goal scorer and I always moan anyway,” he said. (ANI)
