SYDNEY - As opener Phillip Hughes continued with his run of low scores against England, Australian batsman Simon Katich, who has recovered from an Achilles injury, trained strongly in Sydney on Tuesday in a bid to return to the squad for the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney in early January.

Katich spent 30 minutes taking part in fielding drills in a big step towards a possible return for the Sydney Test. He moved freely and ran without any apparent discomfort, before returning to the hands of the NSW team physiotherapist who strapped and iced his ankle, The Age reports.

The 35-year-old was, however, reluctant to talk about his possible inclusion in the squad, but said that he was pleased with the training run.

“It’s definitely improved, otherwise I wouldn’t be here. The fact it’s getting better is a good sign. “It’s not my decision to make,” said Katich. (ANI)
