DOHA - Australia’s Socceroos have said that they will not be distracted by the showdown with South Korea - their second Asian Cup match - and will take their opening fixture against minnows India in the Asia Cup.
Coach McKay said the players were firmly focused on the clash with India, despite the world No.142 side being rank outsiders for the tournament.
“We’ve got three games that we have to get out of and it’s going to be a tough group,” McKay said.
“India is not going to lie down against us. They’re going to be very competitive and a good side. We know what we have to do and we work on our own game. If we get that right then we’ll go a long way to progressing in the tournament,” McKay said.
McKay is hopeful of playing a part in Australia’s opening match after an impressive display in their scoreless draw in the warm up against UAE in Al Ain on Wednesday. (ANI)
