Dumped Hauritz rewarded for astounding domestic performance in December

SYDNEY - Australian off-spinner Nathan Hauritz has bounced back from his disappointing Ashes omission by winning the Australian Cricket Association (ACA)’s player of the month award for December.
Playing for New South Wales (NSW), Hauritz took 13 wickets and made an astonishing 307 runs in the voting period.
He attracted 62 per cent of the vote, way ahead of NSW teammate Daniel Christian (18 per cent), Queensland fast bowler Ben Edmondson (six per cent) and Australian left-handed batsman Usman Khawaja (six per cent).
The 29-year-old was not considered for the five-match Test series against England, which the home side eventually lost 3-1.
“Not being part of the Test series was disappointing, but there’s no better way to respond to that than playing first-class cricket and helping your state teammates,” the Age quoted Hauritz, as saying.
“I’m thankful for this award. It’s great to be acknowledged by your peers as we’re often each other’s harshest critics,” he added.
Hauritz had scored two Sheffield Shield centuries and a one-dayer half-century to finish the month with a batting average of 256. (ANI)
