HOBART - An Australian teenager has advised Michael Clarke against “pushing at the ball” in order to find batting form.

Clarke, who averaged a miserable 21 in the Ashes series, was booed by the Melbourne Cricket Ground crowd during his innings of 36 off 57 balls in the first ODI against England last Sunday.

“I’ve noticed something Michael, you’re pushing at the ball too much,” 17-year-old Daniel Brew told him during a press conference at Hobart’s Bellerive Oval.

Clarke acknowledged the advice and asked for a solution from the youngster saying: “I’m pushing at the ball too much? You should be a batting coach. What do you think I should do about it?”

Undaunted by Clarke’s invitation to continue the conversation, Daniel told Clarke that he should “not reach for it so much”, the Age reports.

Clarke responded: “Okay I’ll try that today in the nets. Thank you.” (ANI)
