Pietersen to give up ODIs after 2011 World Cup
By ANIFriday, February 11, 2011
LONDON - England middle-order batsman Kevin Pietersen has said that he is planning to give up playing one-day international cricket after the 2011 World Cup that is to be played on the Indian subcontinent from February 19.
The Surrey batsman, 30, said that he would concentrate on Test matches and Twenty20 - including the lucrative Indian Premier League after the World Cup.
Pietersen has said that he has been thinking of ways of spending more time at home with wife Jessica and their nine-month old son, Dylan.
According to The Sun, he believes quitting 50-over cricket is the solution - although his pay will be significantly hit because of the complicated loyalty clauses and pension provisions.
KP will continue to play in the IPL and admitted: “You’d be a fool not to put your name into the hat. You want to earn as much as you can along the way.” (ANI)
