New look FA Cup to be launched in 2012-13

LONDON - To regenerate interest in the once-glamorous competition, a new look Football Association cup will be launched in 2012-13.
An FA think-tank, which has new FA Chairman David Bernstein’s blessing, is looking to regenerate interest and stop crowds decline over the last 20 years.
Under discussion is the scrapping of replays, seeding the Premier League boys, playing games in midweek and canvassing UEFA for an extra Champions League place for the FA cup winners, the Daily Express reports.
It is intended that a new look FA cup will be launched in the 2012-13 season to tie in with a new TV deal.
That’s likely to include a demand from the successful broadcaster that the final is moved from its traditional kick-off spot at 3pm on Saturday to 5.30pm. (ANI)
