Lampard backs uncle Redknapp to succeed Capello as England boss

LONDON - Backing the Tottenham boss to replace Fabio Capello after next year’s Euro 2012 championships, ace midfielder Frank Lampard has said that Harry Redknapp would be an outstanding England manager.
Redknapp is the favourite to be chosen by the Football Association as Capello’s successor.
Chelsea midfielder Lampard, who is also Redknapp’s nephew, told BBC Sport: “It’s for him and the FA to decide but it’d be nice if it were an English manager.”
“At the moment, Harry’s doing a fantastic job at Spurs and if he has an opportunity to manage England, I’m sure he’d be an outstanding manager. But, at the moment, we have to play for Capello and we have to win something,” he said.
Lampard admitted that the only way to put behind bad memories of last summer’s World Cup debacle would be for England to qualify for and perform at next summer’s European Championships.
“Since the World Cup, we’ve had good and not so good results. We haven’t turned the corner yet. That is a process and takes time,” the Daily Mail quoted him, as saying. (ANI)
