‘I’ve got what it takes to be an international bowler’, says Tremlett

PERTH - England fast bowler Chris Tremlett insists that he was always confident of his abilities, and believed that he could make an impact when he was added in the team for the third Ashes Test played at Perth’s WACA ground.

The 29-year-old, who played his first Test in over three years - in place of the injured Stuart Broad, claimed match figures of 8 for 150 in the match which England eventually lost by 267 runs.

“I tried not to think about how big the game was because I didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself. I tried to do what I’ve done for Surrey all year - go out and enjoy it,” Tremlett wrote in article for the Daily Mail.

“It is an attitude that has worked for me this year and I really did feel relaxed out there. It was a very proud moment lining up for the national anthem and seeing the crowd.”

“It did make me realise that the Ashes are bigger than any other Test series. It was certainly a different buzz to when I played against India a few years ago,” he added.

Tremlett further said that people have questioned his temperament over the years, but he thinks that he is a better bowler and a different person now.

“I think anyone who has watched me this year would agree that I was being the bowler I can be, aggressive and hitting my areas,” the right-arm fast bowler said.

“I’ve come a long way over the last few years and I think I’ve got what it takes to be an international bowler,” he added. (ANI)
