Vettel takes pole for F1’s Turkish GP

ISTANBUL — Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will start from the pole position at the Turkish Grand Prix after turning the fastest lap in qualifying.

Vettel edged Formula One overall leader Jenson Button of Brawn GP by just over one-tenth of a second on Saturday in Istanbul to earn his third career pole.

Button fills the front row ahead of teammate Rubens Barrichello, who will line up alongside Red Bull’s Mark Webber.

Toyota’s Jarno Trulli starts fifth.

Three-time defending Turkish GP champion Felipe Massa of Ferrari starts seventh, while McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton failed to get out of the first qualifying session and will start 16th for the 58-lap race.
