RAWALPINDI - Out of favour Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar will undergo a knee operation in England on October 8.

Speaking exclusively to the cricket website PakPassion.net, Akhtar’s KRL skipper Mohammad Wasim said: “Shoaib was supposed to be present at the ongoing three-day training camp that KRL are holding, but we haven’t seen him here or heard from him at all. The camp started two days ago and we expected all of our squad to be at the camp. However today I have heard that Shoaib will be going to England for an operation on his knee.”

He further said: “Shoaib was looking to hit some form for KRL in the Quaid e Azam Trophy which commences on 10th October, ahead of a busy international calendar for Pakistan, but it would now appear that his hopes of an international comeback have been delayed.”

Wasim added “It’s a long standing injury that he has been carrying for a while and I have no idea how long he will be out or. I believe the operation will be carried out in England on 8th October. Lets hope its not too serious and he can start laying soon.” (ANI)
