seattlemarinersvnewyorkyankeesqzhbc44gtsilFriday night belonged to Mark Teixeira as the first baseman of the Yankees hit a homer during the 11th inning of the match against the Twins to guide his team to a 4-3 victory. The win now gives the Yankees a two game lead over the Minnesota Twins in their best of five division series. Needless to say, the match had a nail biting finish which witnessed the New York Yankees emerging as the victor.

According to the sources, Teixeira’s final blow off reliever Jose Mijares that steered his team to victory came soon after the Minnesota Twins failed to build up their score in the 11th inning of the match. Initially, while heading to the ninth inning of the match, Yankees trailed the Twins by 3-1. But Alex Rodriguez spurned out a two run homer to drag the match to the 11th and final inning. While speaking to Teixeira regarding the final moment of the match, the overwhelmed player said, “I really thought it was going to be a double because I hit it with so much top spin. I hit it hard but there was so much top spin that I thought there was no chance it was going to get out.”

The Yankees celebrated the win in a traditional fashion as A.J. Burnett reportedly speared a pie in the face of the Yankees’ hero Teixeira. Almost 50,000 crowd who were present in the stadium on Friday in order to witness a high flying match, celebrated the Yankees win with a deafening roar. “The emotions in the game are unbelievable. Emotions were up, down and all around,” said the Yankees coach, Joe Girardi.
