World Series of Poker commissioner leaving post

LAS VEGAS — The commissioner of the World Series of Poker says he plans to leave his post, days after the series crowned its latest main event champion.

Jeffrey Pollack tells The Associated Press that his last day working for private casino operator Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. is Friday. He has led the series since 2005.

Pollack tells the AP that leaving is “bittersweet,” but he believes his goals at the series have been accomplished.

The former NASCAR managing director and NBA vice president says he hasn’t yet decided on his next move.

The series has grown during Pollack’s tenure to include a series in Europe and 57 poker tournaments this year in Las Vegas.

Series spokesman Seth Palansky says there are no intentions to immediately replace Pollack.
