Fargo Shanley defeats Devils Lake in OT for 2A championship

FARGO, N.D. — Fargo Shanley stopped Devils Lake on a two-point conversion in overtime, clinching a 31-30 victory in the North Dakota Class 2A high school football championship game.

Saturday’s win earned Shanley its 21st state title, but its first since 1983.

Brandon Myhre caught a tipped pass for a touchdown to pull the Firebirds to within a point in overtime. Devils Lake went for the victory with a 2-point conversion, but Shanley’s Addison Allex stopped Ben Wolf short of the end zone.

The Deacons took a 31-24 lead in overtime on Myles Montplaisir’s 2-yard TD run.

It was the first overtime game in Dakota Bowl history.
