Austin Peay edges Niagara 69-67

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Marcel Williams scored with 3.5 seconds remaining to give Austin Peay a 69-67 victory over Niagara on Sunday in the Glenn Wilkes Classic.

Austin Peay (2-3) had trailed by as many as 17 points.

Wesley Channels drove the lane and dished the ball to Williams after Bilal Benn’s game-tying jump shot for the Purple Eagles (3-2).

The Governors trailed 21-4 after Niagara hit seven 3-point field goals in the opening 6 minutes. But one night after nearly wiping out a 16-point halftime deficit against North Carolina State, they proved to be even more resilient.

Anthony Campbell scored a game-high 19 points and John Fraley had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Austin Peay.

Anthony Nelson had 15 points to pace Niagara, which went only 7 of 25 from the floor in the second half.
