Foligno’s PP goal leads Sens past Blue Jackets

OTTAWA — Nick Foligno scored a power-play goal with 6:10 left to help the Ottawa Senators beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 on Thursday night.

Foligno moved out from behind the net to put a backhander past Steve Mason with Columbus defenseman Jan Hejda in the penalty box.

Jason Spezza scored late in the first and Brian Elliott stopped 32 shots in his third straight start for Ottawa, which ended a four-game winning streak with a 3-1 loss in New Jersey a night earlier.

Kristian Huselius scored a power-play goal for the Blue Jackets, who dropped their fourth in a row to close out their longest trip of the season with a 1-3-1 mark.
