Thomas leads No. 11 Duke over USC, 78-72

DURHAM, N.C. — Jasmine Thomas scored 28 points to lead four players in double figures and No. 11 Duke rallied for a 78-72 victory over Southern California on Sunday.

Joy Cheek and Karima Christmas added 12 points each and Allison Vernerey had 10 for Duke (7-1), which trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and 10 in the second.

Ashley Corral was 7 of 11 from 3-point range and had 26 points for the Trojans (4-4), who were looking for their third win over a ranked team this season.

USC led for over 28 minutes until Thomas’ 3-pointer put the Blue Devils up 54-53 with 9:21 remaining.

Duke, which has won six straight games, took the lead for good at 62-61 on Christmas’ drive to the hoop with 6:31 to go.
