UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Jaroslav Halak made 40 saves for his first shutout of the season, and Andrei Markov scored two of Montreal’s three-power play goals after missing more than two months with a leg injury in the Canadiens’ 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday night.
Glen Metropolit scored Montreal’s final goal late in the third, and former Islander Marc-Andre Bergeron picked up two assists to help Montreal (16-18-3) snap a five-game losing streak and start a seven-game trip with momentum.
