PERTH - Australia fast bowler Doug Bollinger reckons that he deserves to be included in the national squad for the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan, starting Saturday at the MCG.

Bollinger starred with eight wickets in Australia’s 35-run win over West Indies in the third Test in Perth, but he faces a fight to retain his place in the side, as regulars Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus are expected to be available after recovering from their injuries.

“I think I do deserve to be picked. I felt I bowled well, but it’s out of my control. Hopefully what I do on the field - everything else will look after itself. I’ll just go to Melbourne, get ready for a game and just go from there. That’s the best way to prepare,” Fox Sports quoted Bollinger, as saying.

“It would be awesome if I got picked, the ultimate, 90,000 people, a Boxing Day Test - everyone wants to play that. So, if I get that opportunity it would be another tick off the board of things I want to do and can do in my life,” he added.

His efforts saw West Indian skipper Chris Gayle, who had previously admitted not knowing who Bollinger was, to say that the left-arm speedster had been the pick of the Australian bowlers this series. (ANI)
