LONDON - Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger last night sounded a title warning for Chelsea after his team’s four-goal Fratton Park romp.
Arsenal now go into the New Year four points behind the leaders with a game in hand. They have now bagged 51 goals - the Premier League’s highest scorers, and their fans were singing: “We’re going to win the title.”
“I believe it was a big game for us because we played a big game on Sunday and, three days later, you can be less focused. But we were committed and focused against a Portsmouth side who fought hard. I’m proud of the team. The belief is there and we played like a real team. We knew, to keep chasing the title, we had to win here,” The Sun quoted Wenger, as saying.
Eduardo, Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Song struck to leave Wenger questioning the sanity of those calling on him to sign a striker.
“Everybody tells me to buy strikers, but nobody has scored more goals than us in the league,” Wenger said. (ANI)
