Ustyugov wins biathlon World Cup event
OBERHOF, Germany — Evgeny Ustyugov of Russia overcame tough conditions and poor shooting to win his second consecutive biathlon World Cup event Saturday and take the overall lead from Tim Burke of the United States.
Burke finished 19th and dropped to second in the overall standings with 275 points. Ustyugov moved from fourth to first with 283 points.
Ustyugov clocked 28 minutes, 45 seconds over the 10-kilometer course. He missed three of five targets in the second shooting segment in windy and cold weather but had enough speed to beat three-time Olympic champion Michael Greis of Germany by 2.8 seconds.
Greis had two penalty loops for two missed targets.
Carl Johan Bergman of Sweden was the only racer without a miss and finished third.
