Jaguares come back for 2-2 tie with Tigres
CARSON, Calif. — Ezequiel Orozco and Edgar Andrade scored late in the second half to give Jaguares a 2-2 tie with UANL Tigres of Monterrey in an Interliga group-stage game on Sunday.
Tigres were up 2-0 through Lucas Lobos and Itamar Batista in the first half-hour.
Orozco scored Jaguares’ first goal of the tournament in the 34th minute, sending an 11-yard shot into the upper-right corner of the net. Andrade scored from 22 yards out in the only minute of stoppage time before the half.
Puebla was scheduled to play Monterrey in the second game. Puebla already won Group B to qualify for the doubleheader final Wednesday night. Monterrey is tied with Tigres and Jaguares, so a draw would put them into one of the finals.
The winners of each finals doubleheader game will qualify for the Copa Libertadores, South America’s most prestigious club tournament.
