SACRAMENTO, (GaeaTimes.com)- Last night, the World Extreme Cagefighting fans witnessed an adrenalin pumping match between Ben Henderson and Jamie Varner. After defeating Donald Cerrone in an interim fight, Ben Henderson was determined to clinch the World Extreme Cagefighting lightweight title and gave a tough fight till he won the match against Jamie Varner. As Jamie Varner was a strong contender of the title, Ben Henderson did not want to give him any opportunity to get in a dominating position in the match. It was quite surprising that none of the fighters had attempted defensive strategies to win the match and both of them had exhibited some violent strokes to win the title.
Sunday’s match against Ben Henderson gave Jamie Varner, the opportunity to return to his glorious position in the World Extreme Cagefighting world. However, he could not make the best use of this chance and lost the fight. He had tried to set Ben Henderson in the back foot but failed. Ben Henderson was irresistible during the fight and was full of energy in every moment. He never allowed Jamie Varner to set in a secured position. The fighters, who had been aggressive from the beginning kept the same pace in the last two rounds of the match.
In the third round of the World Extreme Cagefighting, Ben Henderson forced Jamie Varner in to a submission. Jamie Varner, who had fought back Ben Henderson’s attack was unable to stand against the guillotine choke of Ben Henderson and accepted defeat. The defeat against Ben Henderson ruined his chances of retaining his position in the lightweight championship.
