Seeking the Gold daughter tops Keeneland sale
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Rachel’s Star, a 9-year-old daughter of Seeking the Gold in foal to Elusive Quality, has brought $220,000, the highest price paid during the third session of Keeneland’s January Horses of All Ages Sale.
Thoroughbred Advisory Group bought Rachel’s Star from Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
Sales Wednesday totaled $2,560,100 for 211 horses, down 42.39 percent from last year. The average of $19,321 fell 37.2 percent from 2009. Over the first three days, sales are 19.51 percent lower than last year.
Keeneland announced earlier that Grade I stakes winners Point Ashley and Spoken Fur, who were both withdrawn from the sale, were sold privately on Tuesday. Katsumi Yoshida paid $1 million for Point Ashley, while Spoke Fur was sold to Narvick International for Symboli Stud for $500,000.
At Tuesday’s sale, Miss Isella, a 5-year-old daughter of Silver Charm, broke the $1 million mark, bringing $1.085 million from Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs Farm. Tuesday’s sales were 24.66 percent higher than the corresponding session in 2009.
