India in strong position against Bangladesh in Chittagong Test

CHITTAGONG - India took a 123 run lead over Bangladesh on the third day of first cricket Test between the two sides to finish the day at 122 for one before play was suspended due to bad light.
Openers Virender Sehwag (45) and Gautam Gambhir (47 not out) added 90 runs before Shakib Al Hasan broke the partnership.
Sehwag was dismissed trying to sweep a delivery from outside the off-stump to give an easy catch at square leg.
Gambhir and night-watchman Amit Mishra (24 not out) were at the crease and accepted umpires’ offer to suspend play due to bad light.
Earlier, starting the day on 59 for three in reply to India’s first-innings total of 243, Bangladesh batsmen faltered against Indian fast bowlers to lose three wickets in quick session.
Ishant Sharma sent back former captain Mohammad Ashraful (two), Zaheer Khan removed Shakib (17) and Sreesanth dismissed Raqibul Hasan (17).
However, Mohammad Mahmudullah (63 not out) hit a maiden half-century to pull the home side out of deep trouble. He added 108 runs for the seventh wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim (44) as they recovered from 98-6 to reach 228-8 at tea.
Bangladesh was dismissed for 242 runs after tea, just a run short of India’s total, as Zaheer and leg-spinner Mishra claimed three-wickets each, while Ishant and Sreesanth took two wickets each. (ANI)
