NEW DELHI - The Delhi government Wednesday decided to install 68 deep collection system bins at 20 locations in the national capital to ensure cleanliness during the Commonwealth Games in October.
Delhi Urban Development Minister A.K. Walia asked the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to strictly implement its sanitation Action Plan during the Games.
“The MCD will install deep collection system bins which will be partially above and partially below the ground level. The waste shall not be approachable to rag-pickers, stray dogs and cattle. The waste from these bins will be collected mechanically through cranes,” said Walia.
The MCD has been asked to take suitable steps to ensure that no unattended or uncollected waste is found lying on the city streets.
