Cigar Man beats Deal Breaker at Santa Anita
ARCADIA, Calif. — Cigar Man held off Deal Breaker to win the $54,000 Painted Wagon Purse by 1¼ lengths Wednesday at Santa Anita.
With Joel Rosario in the saddle, Cigar Man ran the mile course in 1:36.23.
Cigar Man, trained by Vladimir Cerin, paid $24.80, $8.20 and $5.60. The prices on Deal Breaker, ridden by Rafael Bejarano, were $4 and $3.20. Under Michael Baze, Euroglide paid $4.20 to show.
The victory was worth $31,200 to the partnership of Ron Manzani and Russell Sarno. Cigar Man boosted his earnings to $270,710 from a career record of 4-6-3 in 24 starts.
