PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Dustin Johnson became the first player in 20 years to win back-to-back titles at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, making a short birdie putt on the final hole for a one-shot victory over David Duval and J.B. Holmes.

It certainly wasn’t as easy as last time, when Johnson was declared the winner after 54 holes because of rain.

He closed with a 2-over 74, the highest final round by a Pebble champion since Johnny Miller in 1994. And he became the first player since Davis Love III in 2003 to win at Pebble Beach with a birdie on the last hole in the final group.

Paul Goydos, who started the final round tied with Johnson, had a one-shot lead until taking a quadruple-bogey 9 on the 14th hole.
