VANCOUVER, (GaeaTimes.com)- Lady luck was surely not smiling at Canadian pair Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison, who ended up in the sixth position at the pairs figure skating short program at the Winter Olympics at Vancouver on Sunday. Just as the pair commenced their performance, Jessica Dube stumbled while performing a triple Salchow, which resulted in the pair slipping to the sixth position with 65.36 points.
Although the Canadian pair displayed an impressive show otherwise, their performance could hardly be called flawless, as the pair was also seen having a unison trouble during the conclusion of their combination spin. With their dropping to the sixth slot, Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison would need to work really hard to beat the scores of the pairs above them. Moreover, the unblemished performance delivered by most of the other competitors in the event left little doubt that the Canadian pair would drop to the sixth spot while going into Monday’s free-skating program. While reacting to the mistake that resulted in a full point deduction from their score, Jessica Dube added that the fall had left her surprised as while in air she had presumed that she would make a perfect landing.
Despite their somewhat disappointing performance on Sunday, both Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison plan to concentrate on their future performances and give their best shot. After the event came to an end, Bryce Davison emphasized that they would have to deliver in the upcoming performances not only to impress the judges but for themselves as well as the crowds. At the same time, the Canadian skater also implied that if they could emerge as the crowd favorite then the judges would surely like their performance.
