Jaco gets loose, gone after SBX semis

WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Lindsey Jacobellis has been eliminated from the Olympic snowboardcross contest after losing her balance in the semifinals.

The American, who settled for silver in 2006 after falling while trying a showoff move with a huge lead at the end of the final, didn’t make it that far this time after losing her balance on an early jump and riding outside a gate.

She raised her hands in dismay and clasped them over her helmet as she rode off the course. She will be in the fifth-place race, while Canada’s Maelle Ricker becomes the favorite to win the gold.
