VANCOUVER, CANADA (GaeaTimes.com)- The short program in the men’s figure skating event at Vancouver Winter Olympics saw some trailblazing performances from the participating skaters on Tuesday night. If Evgeny Plushenko of Russia was the one to put up a high score, he was ably matched by the performance of Naperville’s Evan Lysacek. His performance was quite exhilarating and the viewers applauded his choreography excitedly. While Evgeny Plushenko scored 90.85 points, he was closely followed by the score of Evan Lysacek who got 90.30 points.
Another performer who proved his mettle was Daisuke Takahashi of Japan, who, despite recovering from a serious knee surgeryscored90.25, just a little behind Evan Lysacek. However, Evan Lysacek got the cheers and claps as he skated with passion and his moves indicated that he had command over his body movements. His spins were really dynamic and the jumps he made were solid and huge. He was quite elated with himself at the end of his performance.
Even the coach of Evan Lysacek was happy with his performance that evening. Later, the skater admitted that he was going through some amount of mental pressure prior to the performance. Even a few days back he was apprehensive about his prospects at the Olympics and did not want to do quad jump. He feared that it would end up in hurting his injured left foot. He had to undergo therapy to alleviate the pains in his leg. Now that the men’s short program is over, Evan Lysacek is eagerly waiting for the long program which will take place on Thursday.
