VANCOUVER, CANADA (GaeaTimes.com)- EvanLysacek won the gold medal at the men’s figure skating championship at the Winter Olympics that is being held in Vancouver. However, this is one win that belongs more to the coach of the winner than the winner himself. Coach Frank Carroll, who is the figure skating coach of Evan Lysacek, realized his dreams on Thursday, through his student, of being the coach to a winner of the gold medal in the Olympics. This is the first time that one of his students have brought home a gold medal from the Olympics, despite the fact that he has always been the coach to national level winners and champions.
As Evan Lysacek stood in attention before the press, talking about his victory, a major part of his speech was taken up by the praises he had to laud upon his coach. He mentioned that he had not won the gold medal for anyone, not even himself, but for his coach, Frank Carroll. he also mentioned that the credit of his victory went 99% to the coach, and about 1% of the effort could be attributed to him.
After the interviews came to an end, coach Frank Carroll was greeted by a multitude of fans, who kept congratulating him on the win of Evan Lysacek, much as if it was he who had actually won the medal. Evan Lysacek’s win brought an end to the years of disappointment for the 71-year-old man, almost four decades of it, the whole of his career as a figure skating coach. As he thanked his fans, Frank Carroll could hardly believe that his dream had at last come true.
