Athlete apologizes for yelling after squash win

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Trinity College star squash player has apologized for a confrontation with his opponent after a match that helped the school clinch its 12th consecutive national team title.

Baset Chaudhry (CHAW’-dree) screamed in the face of Yale opponent Kenneth Chan immediately after their match Sunday.

A video of the incident, taped by a local television station, has garnered national attention.

Trinity coach Paul Assaiante says he and Chaudhry have sent apologies to the Yale team, and to each member of the College Squash Association.

After the match, Yale coach Dave Talbott suggested the College Squash Association should consider penalizing Chaudhry, who is set to defend his individual national championship in two weeks.
