Prime Minister terms Tendulkar’s maiden double century as “magnificent”

NEW DELHI - Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Wednesday congratulated cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on achieving a special milestone of an unbeaten 200, which is the highest score in one-day international cricket’s history.
In his personal message, Prime Minister Dr. Singh, described Tendulkar’s double century as a “magnificent achievement” and stated: “Sachin has led by example and all Indians are proud of his achievement.”
The Prime Minister also wished him many more glorious years in his cricketing career.
Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday scored first ever double century and also broke the world record for highest runs in ODI previously held by Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar for 194 runs, while playing in the second ODI here against South Africa.
Sachin scored 200 in just 147 balls playing with Team India skipper Mahender Singh Dhoni on the other end, who scored 68* in just 35 balls.
In his 147 ball inning, Tendulkar scored 25 fours and 3 sixes to make 200*. (ANI)
